Chainsaw Man Chapter 170 Summary
Chainsaw Man Chapter 170 is ironically titled How To Eat Sushi and begins with Barem offering sushi to a rather confused Denji. He stresses the importance of doing things in the right order, and Denji, clearly frustrated and impatient, tells Barem to go die.
Barem cheerfully replied that if Denji did not listen, he would lose his chance to meet Nayuta. Furious, Denji grabbed the sushi, crushing it in the process, and stuffed the food into his mouth. Barem was initially pleased, but when Denji continued to eat aggressively, Barem admonished him, telling him to enjoy the sushi properly by letting it rest on his tongue.
Denji swipes the plate and cup in front of him and Barem in anger, causing a commotion. Asa Mitaka notices and asks what's going on, growing suspicious of Fami's lack of reaction in Chainsaw Man Chapter 170. Denji then asks Barem if his condition for meeting Nayuta was to kill the Public Safety officer outside.
Barem says that Public Safety doesn't want to kill Denji either, explaining that they want to use some of Chainsaw Man's power. Denji asks if he needs to transform into Chainsaw Man, but Barem insists that everything is in “proper order.”
He explains that Denji's transformation is still incomplete, and they need a version of Chainsaw Man that can erase the Devil from existence. Denji, confused, argues in Chainsaw Man Chapter 170 that the chainsaw is only used to cut down trees. Barem suggests that the original chainsaw could have had multiple uses, but Chainsaw Man erased all but one.
Barem gives Denji some lean tuna sushi and says that Denji needs everyone’s fear and his own unhappiness to become the full Chainsaw Man. He explains that Denji’s superhero status makes this impossible, but now he is the object of fear every day. Barem then orders “premium fatty tuna” from the sushi chef.
As the 'sushi' is brought onto the conveyor belt, the other patrons react with horror and disbelief. The focus shifts to Haruka Iseumi, Katana Man, and Asa Mitaka, all of whom are confused and disgusted by what they see. A double page spread shows a severed head on a plate on the conveyor belt. Chainsaw Man Chapter 170 ends with a close-up of the head, confirmed to be that of Control Devil Nayuta.
