Ikemoto Reveals Reason Behind Sarada's Most Controversial Outfit Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's Fashion Just Continues Existing Trend From Naruto
Be loved as Boruto It may be a franchise, but its distinctive style has always been quite controversial among fans, with Two blue whirlpools continues to add fuel to the fire. One character in particular who has been at the center of this debate is Sarada Uchiha, whose new design in Two Blue Vortex has been particularly controversial. However, a recent interview with the series' creator revealed a rather benign reason for Sarada's latest outfit.
A recent event held in France called Konoha à Nuit featured an interview with Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto, in which Ikemoto was asked about his inspiration for the fashion in Boruto, specifically how it seems to be central to the character designs in the series. During the interview, Ikemoto explained The intentional design for Sarada's outfit in Two Blue Vortex, reflects her feelings for Boruto.
On the contrary, Sarada, in her girl version, wears a shirt that is too loose to expose her shoulders. That's because it's a men's clothing brand that Boruto likes and wears. When Boruto left the village, feeling very emotional, Sarada bought a set of clothes from this store. As you can see, in my caseCharacter design and fashion are inseparable elements.

Ikemoto reveals the real reason Sarada wears a coat so oversized that it slips off her shoulders, explaining that it's It's actually a men's jacket from Boruto's favorite brand that Sarada bought after Boruto was banished from Konoha.Perhaps it's because she misses him. So, while the jacket (and Sarada's entire outfit) may not be exactly practical, it still has some meaning beyond mere aesthetics.
Ikemoto Reveals the Reason Behind Sarada's Most Controversial Outfit
Sarada's Two Blue Vortex Design Isn't As Shocking As Fans Claimed
While many of the characters received quite stylish makeovers in Two Blue Vortex, Sarada's new look was particularly controversial, largely due to previous debates surrounding Sarada's over-sexualization. Some fans went as far as reimagining Sarada's new Two Blue Vortex outfit with longer pants or even a more covered-up top. However, arguably ends up sexualizing her more than the original outfit ever did..
Basically, there is nothing wrong with a teenager's collarbone or leg.
While certainly fashionable, Sarada's jumpsuit can still be considered quite functional, even her shoes are on the comfortable side with thick, chunky heels. Remember that Sarada is sixteen in Two Blue Vortex, It makes sense that she would choose to wear something a little more fashionable and start experimenting with her looks.. Most importantly, there is nothing inappropriate about a teenager's collarbone or leg.
The edgy, tomboyish style of Sarada's outfits also fits her personality and rebellious nature, and proves that Ikemoto put a lot of thought into these outfits in addition to incorporating contemporary trends. Ikemoto explained as much in his Konoha à Nuit interview, where he explained how he created each character's new look, taking into account their personality, temperament, attitude towards fashion, and even a particular character that values function over style.
Fashion seems to be a major focus in character design in Boruto. Where do you draw inspiration from?
Mikio Ikemoto: When creating a character, their temperament, thoughts, and preferences must be reflected in their clothing. First of all, you need to know whether the character cares about clothing. Understand the importance they place on function and appearance. Even unconsciously, a costume is the result of psychological factors at work. Furthermore, a fashion style can exist in a village or region.
Boruto: The Two Blue Vortex's Fashion Just Continues the Existing Trend from Naruto
Naruto never intended to accurately depict Ninja attire.
While there are certainly many who appreciate the modern makeover of the Two Blue Vortex, there are also quite a few fans who complain about the functionality of the new costume. The main complaint is that the Two Blue Vortex fashion seems out of place for a ninja who needs to be able to move and fight freely without standing out too much.
However, even Naruto's fashion has never been historically accurate. While the series certainly draws inspiration from real-life ninjas, the original series also brought some modern touches to the character designs, most notably with pieces like Naruto's signature bomber jacket. Boruto has only continued this trend in its own way, and the Two Blue Vortex's fashionable outfits only make sense given the time that has passed since the original series and Boruto focuses heavily on modernity and technology.
Even in terms of modesty, Naruto has had a number of outfits that are far more revealing than Sarada's latest look. For example, Ino has been exposing her midriff for a large portion of the series, even when she was the same age as Sarada in Two Blue Vortex. The same goes for Sai with his even shorter shirts, which often put him at the top of best-dressed lists rather than causing controversy.
However, fashion and character design are and always will be subjective, which is why every fan is entitled to their own interpretation. Even if the fanbase may disagree on how modest or appropriate Sarada's new outfit is, it's still interesting to see the careful consideration Ikemoto put into it and all. Boruto's character design, hopefully enough to quell the controversy.
