Compilation of the first season Gekijō-ban Yakunara Mug Cup Mo -Anime Sōshūhen- Okaerinasai debuts at Tajimi
Kodoani.com – The official website of the anime adaptation of the manga Yakunara Mug Cup Mo (Let's Make a Mug Too) by Osamu Kashiwara announced information about the ensemble film project on Tuesday, including its official title and release date. The film, titled Gekijō-ban Yakunara Mug Cup Mo -Anime Sōshūhen- Okaerinasai (Movie: Let's Make a Mug Too -Anime Compilation- Welcome Home), will premiere on March 22 at Valor Culture Hall, Tajimi City . This special screening also includes a talk show with the production team and voice actress Yūki Wakai, who plays Naoko Naruse in the series.
The city of Tajimi, where the anime is set, has actively used the project to promote tourism. A bus tour of city locations related to the anime series was also held on the same day. To support film production and promotion, the city government spent 5 million yen (about $32,000) from the fiscal year 2024 supplementary budget, mainly coming from hometown tax contributions from businesses. In addition, the city also aims to make another compilation film for the anime's second season, in order to drum up support for the third season.
The Let's Make a Mug Too anime released its first season in April 2021, followed by its second season in September of the same year. A spin-off titled Rokurō no Dai Bōken (Rokurō's Great Adventure), co-developed with dental app DentalE, premiered in spring 2024 exclusively on the platform.
The original Yakunara Mug Cup Mo manga debuted in 2012 and is periodically updated four times per year. The story focuses on the life of a high school girl who moves to the city of Tajimi, famous for its Mino ceramic tradition. Here, she discovered the beauty of ceramic art, made friends and became involved with the local community. The manga also has a four-panel spinoff titled Naoko no Kobachi and an anime manga adaptation serialized in Akita Shoten's Manga Cross in 2021, concluding with its second volume in 2022.
Yakunara Mug Cup Mo not only tells a warm story about friendship and art, but also serves as a bridge to bring the cultural beauty of Tajimi to audiences everywhere, promoting the connection between art and real life.
